Our Rescue Activity

At Back The Pack Corp, our primary mission is rescuing dogs in need. With limited resources but unlimited compassion, we focus our efforts where they matter most – giving second chances to dogs who have nowhere else to turn.

Our Rescue Process

Each rescue follows a careful process designed to give dogs the best possible chance at a new life:
1. Initial Assessment: We evaluate the dog's immediate health and safety needs
2. Medical Care: Basic veterinary attention, including vaccinations and addressing urgent issues
3. Safe Haven: Placement in our small facility or with a foster home
4. Rehabilitation: Patient work to address behavioral needs and build trust
5. Forever Home Matching: Finding the right fit for each dog's personality and needs

Recent Rescue Stories

Senior Anatolian Shepherd – February 2025
Found wandering along a rural highway, this gray-muzzled gentleman was severely dehydrated and disoriented. After medical treatment revealed age-related health issues but a strong spirit, he settled into foster care where he now enjoys short, gentle walks and long afternoon naps in the sunshine. His gentle demeanor with children makes him an ambassador for senior dog adoption.

Rescued Puppy – December 2024
A concerned neighbor called about whimpering sounds coming from beneath an abandoned shed. There we discovered a small, chocolate-colored puppy, barely eight weeks old, struggling alone in the cold. Dehydrated and frightened, the puppy initially cowered from human touch. After gentle care at our facility, including proper nutrition and socialization, this resilient little one began to thrive. Day by day, we've watched as cautious eyes have given way to playful curiosity. Now, this puppy eagerly greets visitors and is learning basic commands with remarkable enthusiasm, showing how quickly the right environment can transform a young life.

Anxious Terrier – October 2024
Surrendered due to "excessive barking," this small white terrier arrived shaking uncontrollably and hiding from human touch. Patience revealed the root cause – severe separation anxiety and fear of loud noises. With consistent, gentle handling and a predictable routine, his confidence grows daily. He now approaches new volunteers for treats and has developed a special bond with one of our long-term foster providers who understands his need for security.

Injured Hound – September 2024
Following a severe storm, this young hound was found limping along a flooded drainage ditch with a deep laceration on his hind leg. Emergency veterinary care saved the leg, though he will always have a distinctive gait. During his recovery, we discovered his extraordinary gentleness with other animals. He has become our unofficial "welcome committee," helping new rescues adjust to life at our facility with his calm, accepting presence.

Neglected Dog – August 2024
This medium-sized mixed breed was discovered in a backyard after reports that the property had been abandoned. Severely underweight and suffering from an untreated skin condition, the dog was initially wary of human contact. Patient, consistent care has gradually built trust, and proper medical treatment has transformed both physical condition and spirit. What began as a matted coat and fearful demeanor has evolved into a healthy, glossy fur and cautious wags. This resilient survivor has shown remarkable progress in basic training and now seeks human companionship, a testament to a dog's capacity to move beyond neglect when given proper care and dignity.

How Our Rescues Work

As a small organization, we focus on quality care rather than quantity of rescues. This means:

Each dog receives individualized attention and rehabilitation plans
We make decisions based on our current capacity and resources
We prioritize cases where our specific skills and resources can make the most difference
We maintain relationships with other rescues to ensure dogs get the specialized care they might need

Our success is measured not by numbers, but by transformations – the fearful dog who learns to play, the neglected dog who discovers comfort, the abandoned dog who finds a family that will never leave them behind.
