About Back The Pack Corp
Back The Pack Corp began as a small group of neighbors in Saint Cloud who couldn't turn away from the scared eyes peering out from under porches or the thin bodies scavenging behind restaurants. What started with a few food bowls and makeshift shelters has grown into a dedicated rescue network operating out of our modest facility and a small network of foster homes.
Why I started this...
It started with a single dog – a senior retriever mix found wandering near a local park, ribs showing and paws raw. After days of trying to find his owner, it became clear he had been abandoned. As he gradually transformed from a frightened, withdrawn animal into a trusting, joyful companion, the seeds of Back The Pack were planted.
That first rescue showed us how profoundly a dog's life could change with just a little patience and care. Soon, there was another dog, then another – each with their own story written in scars, fear responses, or simply the confused look of betrayal that comes from being left behind.
Our name honors what these dogs taught us – that at their core, dogs seek connection and belonging. They're pack animals who thrive when "backed" by consistent care and genuine understanding. Every dog that comes through our doors is looking for their forever pack, and until they find it, we become their interim family.
The Dogs' Journeys
The true story of Back The Pack is best told through the eyes of the dogs who've passed through our care:
• The trembling Chihuahua who spent her first three days with us hiding in a corner, now greeting visitors with playful spins
• The heartworm-positive hound who patiently endured treatment, his gentle demeanor never wavering despite his discomfort
• The senior pair surrendered when their family moved, who refused to eat unless they were fed side by side
• The reactive shepherd who slowly learned that not all strangers bring pain, his progress measured in gradually relaxing shoulders and softening eyes
Who We Are
Back The Pack is a small, registered 501(c )(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization. We operate with:
• A strict no-kill philosophy
• A handful of dedicated volunteers
• Limited resources maximized through careful planning
• A commitment to seeing each dog as an individual with unique needs
• A focus on quality care rather than quantity of rescues
Our Mission
Back The Pack Corp is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs in need while educating our community about responsible pet ownership and advocating for the humane treatment of all animals.
We fulfill this mission by:
1. Providing safe harbor, medical care, and rehabilitation for abandoned, surrendered, or stray dogs
2. Carefully matching dogs with loving, permanent homes
3. Educating the public about responsible pet ownership, the importance of spaying/neutering, and the commitment required to care for a dog
4. Advocating for animal welfare in our community and beyond
5. Building a network of volunteers, foster homes, and community partners dedicated to improving the lives of dogs in need
Our Vision
We envision a community where:
• Every dog has a loving home and is treated with compassion and respect
• No healthy, adoptable dog is euthanized due to lack of space or resources
• Pet owners have access to the education and resources needed to provide proper care for their animals
